Hot Rod Magazine’s digital ink about this year’s event just came out. This article focuses mainly on the race but there was way more going on than meets the eye.

This was the race/show that everyone came together to make it happen! We had almost as many Racer and ProStreet participant sponsors as we did major manufacturer sponsors this year. It takes everyone to make it happen but the way the racers and show guys got behind this year’s event was second to none!

We always like to refer to this as the racers race because there is a racer behind almost every part of this event! Not just any racers either these guys and gals are either legends or legends in the making!

What you missed with eyes wide open…

We had a plan going into the feature show with two legendary cars to start the show off as we always do but someone from above sent us a different plan that just felt right.

Jes and I were not together that morning but both of us had crossed the paths of these two drivers that morning. After talking with them we both had the exact same idea in our heads before we even got to tell each other.

Aaric Gerling son of the legendary wheelstander Aaron Gerling was the happiest kid on the property totally into everything going on. He was bummed his Jr race was canceled the weekend before but made sure to tell us he brought it with him to the event just incase… Aaron had hinted about making a pass possibly if there was time so we decided to open the show with the new kid in town! He lettered up the Hotrod with his own FSC banners and hung his new Hotrods by Havliks flag off the back and was ready! He did a great job staging and letting it eat sending a warning to all future competitors. The rest of the event he was seen popping wheelies everywhere trying to race every one he could on cloud 9. lol That will be a memory we all will never forget!

The next pass was from the heart! The crew walked up holding hands behind Scott Williams 65’ Chevelle as he gets ready to make a very special pass in memory of his wife Kelly. This was her favorite track and something we felt needed to happen in her honor. The sunset with the crew lined up behind the car and Scott’s Chevelle hanging tires was a perfect picture for the moment!

We were honored to have these two drivers make the opening passes at this year’s event!

We unfortunately we were too busy to catch all the great shots unfolding around us. But we did manage to get a few! Here is a quick sample from some of our pictures from the event. More to come!

What you missed…

The spectator ride alongs were nothing but smiles that made an impression on some to last a lifetime! 30 drivers took the time to give the spectators something that they have never had a chance to do. Riders of all ages got to participate in this ride along which was a hit with all involved! Too cool!

But there is one story you missed! A young man named Jarod came all the way down from Ontario Canada with his mother to attend the event. Jarod was super surprised to be drawn and had the chance to choose between remaining cars. Little did he know the one he picked was going to be even better than all the rest!

Jarod picked the Big Wipple Supercharged Chevelle owned by David Hollis! You couldn’t ask for a better UBER driver than this. The cruise started in the staging lanes and went down the track then drivers had the option of going around the pits or down the road.

Hollis is a driver he’s driven that thing across the country so they went for a rip down highway 84. Having the time of his life Jarod got to take it one step further.

Hollis asked him if he wanted to drive the Chevelle. Jarod was like yeah right like that was really going to happen.. So Hollis asked again and Jarod still didn’t believe it was a real possibility. After chatting a little bit more about it Hollis says “I’m going to ask 1 last time do you want to drive it?” It finally dawned on Jarod that maybe this guy is serious and said let’s do it!

Jarod hopped in the driver seat, fired it up and got to experience that thrill of driving one of the baddest prostreet cars of all time back to Cordova! Knowing Hollis I’m sure there was a little bad influence coming from the passenger seat saying hit it a little bit lol.

There were so many cool things like this that happened last weekend! Big thanks to all 30 drivers for making this happen! What an awesome group!
