It's after 1 PM and yes, we forgot to post.

Rain. Thunderstorms. Ick.

Now look at me.

Do I appear concerned about productivity today? 😂

I had every intention of accomplishing absolutely nothing.

Unfortunately, today's automotive lesson interrupted my nap:

CORE CHARGES.

Want your old part?

Absolutely. It's yours.

But if the replacement part has a core charge, the manufacturer wants the old one back.

Old part goes back = core refunded.

You keep the old part = you pay the core charge.

No, Josh isn't charging you to keep your own part.

The manufacturer basically says:

"Give us the old one back or pay the core."

That's it. That's the whole mystery. 😂

We're a repair shop.

Not the Core Charge Make-A-Wish Foundation.

There.

I taught something.

I've officially exceeded my Friday productivity quota.

Apparently Josh has discovered the secret to finishing this house.

Early 2000s music.

LOUD.

The man has been bouncing around this place like somebody gave him a Monster Energy and a deadline. 😂

I don't understand it.

Pepperoncini doesn't understand it.

But stuff is actually getting DONE, so we're allowing it.

Especially because the sooner this house is finished, the sooner we can stay at the NEW house...

where Josh has temporarily figured out this magical thing called AIR CONDITIONING.

Thank God.

And apparently Miss Pepperoncini is getting her own CATIO at the new place.

An enclosed outdoor kingdom where she can be outside while technically still being inside.

Meanwhile, judging by these pictures, she's currently practicing for her new position by attempting to murder Josh.

Fair.

Keep the music going, du***ss.

Funny how an air conditioner can make you stop and look around your house a little differently.

We're hunting for R-22.

New production and import ended in 2020, so what's still out there isn't cheap. We've heard this could be anywhere from a few hundred dollars to around $1,500 depending on what the system needs.

The other option is roughly $4,200 for replacement.

But my human is selling this house.

And no matter who ends up buying it, he wants to leave things right for the next people who get to call it home.

That's when I realized...

This really isn't about the air conditioner anymore.

I've lived here for 8½ years.

I watched three kids grow up inside these walls.

I watched two of them eventually walk out the door and start lives of their own.

There were birthdays here.

Holidays.

Late nights.

Lazy mornings.

Laughter from rooms that are starting to look a little emptier now.

There were arguments.

There were hard days.

There were people we loved.

There were moments we probably didn't realize were memories while we were living them.

There was life here.

A whole lot of life.

And somewhere down the road, another family is going to walk through this same front door for the first time...

and it'll be their home.

They'll put their furniture where ours used to be.

They'll choose their favorite rooms.

They'll make dinner in our kitchen.

Maybe they'll raise their kids here.

Maybe they'll bring home a puppy who thinks this whole yard belongs to them.

And someday they'll have 8½ years of memories here too.

I think that's pretty damn cool.

I'm excited for my new house.

My new yard.

My new neighborhood.

And all the memories we haven't made yet.

But when we leave this place for the last time...

I think even this old dog might turn around and look back.

Not because I don't want to go.

Just because this place deserves one last goodbye.

It was home.

And for 8½ years...

it was a pretty damn good one.

Okay, first of all...
What the hell is coming across Iowa now?

Second...

I KNOW I didn't post yesterday.

Talk to Josh.

He was so busy between my two houses that he left his phone plugged in downstairs and forgot the damn thing existed.

Then we went home because it's cooler there...

except apparently the A/C had other plans.

Brandon Donnelly from Donnelly's Heating & Air came over the same day, checked it out and we're low on R-22.

So now we're hunting for R-22 before Josh has to spend around $4,200 replacing everything.

Anybody know somebody?

Brandon did give me belly rubs and tell me I'm a good girl, so the service appointment wasn't a total disaster.

He even noticed I missed Facebook yesterday.
I'm starting to like this guy.

Anyway.

Storms.

A/C.

Remember that llama headed toward Cedar Rapids this morning?

Well apparently the bastard made it.

Because now I'm hearing rumors that we're closing the shop.

NOPE.

Josh may have used some questionable words last week that made it sound that way.

The man can fix cars.

Communication?

We're working on it. 😂

We're basically closed THIS WEEK while I have my humans finishing my old house, getting my new house ready, and reorganizing a few things at the shop.

When we come back, we're keeping things simple.

TWO humans.
Both handle the office.
Both turn wrenches.

We'll let everybody know when we're back up to full speed.

Now somebody get this Drama Llama out of Cedar Rapids.

He's been here five minutes and already started s**t.

Josh probably won't be around the shop much this week, but he and I should make an appearance Tuesday.

Once these humans FINALLY get me moved...

I'll be back at the shop full-time.

It's F-It Friday.

So apparently I need to explain how humans work.

Josh has a #2.

Know why?

Because Josh can't be everywhere.

He's going to be in and out of the shop for the next couple weeks, and management is there for a reason.

Use them.

If they need Josh, they'll get Josh.

And while we're discussing things...

My humans will work HARD to take care of people.

Mistakes happen.
Parts can be wrong.
Suppliers can screw up.
Cars can be A-holes.

Most problems can be solved by simply TALKING to each other.

But yelling, threatening, hanging up and making demands?

Nah.

Treat my humans with respect and they'll move mountains trying to help you.

Treat them like garbage and don't be surprised when that same energy comes back.

We're not the shop for everybody.

And everybody isn't the customer for us.

That's perfectly okay.

Now I'm going back to supervising the carpet.

I've got a house to move out of.
