Fall camping has a different packing list. 🍂🏕️

Cooler mornings, earlier sunsets and chilly evenings around the fire are part of what makes this time of year so good for camping — but they also mean there are a few things worth checking before you pull out of the driveway.

Before your next fall weekend, make sure the RV is ready:

✅ Propane — Check your supply before you're relying on it for heat, cooking or hot water.

✅ Furnace — Test it at home. The first cold night at the campground is a terrible time to discover it isn't working.

✅ Battery — Make sure it's charged and the connections are clean and secure.

✅ Tires — Check pressure, tread and visible condition before hitting the highway.

Then make sure you’re ready:

🧥 Warm clothes — Fall afternoons can feel great. Fall nights are another story.

🔥 Campfire gear — Because this is finally the time of year when sitting next to the fire feels necessary.

🔦 Flashlights — The sun is going down a little earlier these days.

🌦️ Weather forecast — Check both the daytime high and the overnight low.

When should you winterize your RV? 🍂

A lot of RV owners assume the answer is simply, “Sometime in October.”

But the calendar isn’t really what determines it.

What matters more is how much camping you still plan to do and what the overnight temperatures are starting to look like.

If you’ve still got a few fall trips on the calendar, there’s no reason to put the RV away early. Fall can be one of the best times of year to camp.

But once your final trip is behind you and freezing temperatures are getting closer, it’s time to start thinking seriously about winterization.

A few things to keep in mind:

✅ Are you finished camping for the season?
✅ Is your RV getting ready to go into storage?
✅ Are overnight temperatures starting to approach freezing?

If the answer is yes, it’s probably time to get it taken care of.

Proper winterization helps protect your RV’s water and plumbing systems during cold weather and can help prevent an unpleasant surprise when camping season comes back around.
