โTransmission flushโ sounds simple โ but what are you actually getting?
At Cedar Transmission & Automotive, we get asked about transmission flushes all the time. The problem is that not every โflushโ is the same, and on some vehicles an external flush machine or chemical cleaning process may not be the service the manufacturer recommends. GM, for example, has specifically advised against external transmission flush machines for routine service, and other manufacturers warn against chemical flushes and aftermarket additives.
What we care about is doing the right service for the transmission in your vehicle.
That may include inspecting the pan for debris, replacing the filter where serviceable, using the correct fluid, and performing a proper fluid exchange or drain-and-refill procedure based on the transmission and its condition.
Why does that matter? Because the pan, magnet, and filter can tell an experienced transmission technician a lot about what is happening inside the unit โ information you simply may not get from hooking up a machine and exchanging fluid.
Before you ask for a transmission flush, ask what the service actually includes.
Call Cedar Transmission & Automotive and talk to Southern Utahโs drivetrain specialists about the right transmission service for your vehicle.
