"12 years ago today at the third annual "Need for Speed" hot car and boat show. The previous records were 2012: 115 mph, 2013: 116 mph. On this day Kelly O'hara set a new record of 124 mph with his 35' Fountain with twin supercharged 502 Chevy's for power. There were a few Pro Street type cars there doing some burnouts after the event as well"

Just in case you are wondering, CBC Is very happy With this years Horsepower. Its a huge Event and it takes months to organize and we work super hard to give the spectators and the Performance Boaters, and the show cars a quality show. The one thing we have absolutely no control of is the weather and the condition of the river. That said, we have canceled the event soley on the rivers condition before. We at CBC are boat owners so we know the hazards of debris in the water. So we totally understand why you would not want to risk it.. We look forward to seeing you all next Year. Bottom line is we had a great day and a lot of fun. We heard no complaints. We thank the over 600 people who did show up. It really was a fun day.

Now for the BIG THANK YOU! Our SPONSORS are truly the best and most amazing group of business covering everything you can think of. Really…can you think of anyplace else what has such an eclectic (look it up it’s a great word) group of people willing to agree with their mission enough to give them money?

Sure, we have car and boat folks, but we also have engineers, tradesmen, design folks that make things for businesses, tree people, lawn people, bug smooshers, a brewery, insurance people (must be new 😂), and let’s not forget waste removal folks! This event is probably the ONLY thing all of them have in common! But you know what? That’s awesome, seriously. Because people ARE just people at the end of the day and I think we are ALL wired at some level to love cool, fast things and not very healthy (but incredibly delicious) food.

What a weekend right!?? I hope everyone that was able to come had a fantastic time! Our crowd wasn’t as big as it had been the last few years due to our weather issues but we TRULY appreciate you all for your support!

I’d like to give a SPECIAL SHOUT OUT to our Food Trucks! I personally sampled dishes from each, because I am a giver dammit, and I just wanted to say AMAZING! The food was absolutely incredible! These food trucks were brand new to our event this year and had no idea what to expect but they came over and hung out and served delicious food anyway.

If you weren’t able to make it to HP26 I -highly- recommend that you check them out if you see them around OR if you need a food truck for your event, give them a call!

The storm on Wednesday hit the village hard. People lost buildings, roads washed out and our water system was impacted. The fire department never stopped. People were able to jet ski on Main Street. There were evacuations at the Park. The river was a mess of debris, and we were ready to cancel the event.

But - people reached out right away and asked how to help. How can we still do something, even if it's not full of boats. We knew performance boats would stay home - we get it - we are boaters too. So, as a club and a community we revised the event.

Yesterday was the result of a team of people who weren't going to give up. Shane Mahieu and Mahieu Racing were ready to raise money for our charity partner Anchor Food Pantry, starting with a sizeable personal donation to get the ball rolling. Our favorite band on the river, Guilty Pleasure agreed to play early, and that meant they needed to adjust personal schedules to make it work. Our First response partners, already tired from handling storm detail in their respective counties, all arrived Saturday ready to keep water ops organized and safe.

The Performance boats who attended were ready to just hang out at the dock, but as the day went on, we found (and created) enough clear water to have some runs anyway.

We will have many thanks to send out today but I will start by thanking the members of the Castleton Boat Club, who didn't give up on the event, even as we were cabling up our dock systems wondering if we would have anything left once the water came, and pushing debris off the bridge at 6 AM Thursday Morning when it came rushing down.

This event starts with the Club membership, and as Commodore I want to make sure they realize how amazing they all are for getting us to yesterday and delivering Horsepower on the Hudson 2026.
