Sims RV We offer Estimates, In Shop, Mobile, & Insurance/Warranty Repairs, Consignment Sales, Storage & More!

We are expanding to Carthage, Missouri this month, something we’ve wanted to do for awhile. We are going to be offering more than we were able to in Parsons including consignment sales, and storage. We are entertaining the idea of renting a couple as well but unsure of that at the moment. We are excited to be closer to some of the larger cities to hopefully make getting parts in certain cases a bit easier and faster. We are still planning to service a lot of the same area’s we have over the last couple years with a few exceptions. Our rates and service will remain the same. We are however, going to change a few of our protocols for mobile service requests. It will take us a bit to build this page up so lets get started.

We are working on finishing setting up this new page for our location in Carthage. Should have it done soon. We will begin promoting after it is finished.

Missing some of the pictures for these jobs. The 2nd &. 6th picture aren’t jobs but they are the setup a guy I met designed and put in his RV. The 7th is the exterior of the custom RV he built. Cool guy, real cool RV!

Roof we did back before I found the product we use now. We still used Dicor roof coating then and its a 2 step process. The first part to the process can eat through paint and decals so you have to make sure you cover every part of the trailer. Takes more time than its worth. We use a different product now that has texturing mixed in the coating which makes the roof alot less slippery overall which is nice. Nothing against Dicor and we still use a ton of their other products just not the roof coating anymore.

Water Heater we upgraded. Factory unit was a 3 wire system, the newer unit that replaced that particular water heater was a 4 wire system. The newer unit had a 12v relay to activate electric element. Luckily on this particular trailer the fuse panel was only a foot away from where the W/H was located which made running the extra wire pretty easy and it was protected on its own circuit with a fuse. Doing it this way the customer was able to use the pre-existing 120V switch and saved us having to run wiring for a new switch which saved on time and install costs. The install on these are pretty simple and don’t require a ton of specialty tools to replace.

Customer stated that no matter what they did they couldn’t get the middle AC unit to shut off unless they turned off the breaker to it. After checking everything that we typically would with no luck, I got into the main compartment where the board for the JayCommand system is. All 3 AC units run through this board along with pretty much everything else inside and out. Customer tells me that it was storming the night that the AC started having issues, so I pulled the cover off the board and started checking for any shorts or burnt relays and shortly after found the culprit. The last couple pictures show the burn on the board, just that little tiny bit getting burned caused to entire board to need replaced and they aren’t the easiest thing to get your hands on if you’re not a big dealer. I know a lot of people love them but I’m not a huge fan of the JayCommand systems. Changing out these boards are not very fun even with everything being labeled, there is always something that’s different.

Customer brought in a pop up and stated that only one corner was starting to raise up when they cranked it, after I managed to get into it, I had to make it to the rear of it under a cabinet to see if a cable had snapped or if some hardware was damaged, hardware in this case, if it hadn’t been so hot and so cramped in there it would have been a real easy job. Make sure if you’re doing a repair like this on your own not to put in this many connectors and make sure that they are rated for the weight of the specific pop up you have or this could happen or even worse have it break or bend while someone is inside it, either way not good so make sure you do your research to pick the right size cable if needed or other components. If you’re still unsure call us and we can help guide you in the right direction.

As I’ve said before woodworking is not my favorite thing to do but this bed frame we built turned out better than I expected. The original was too high for the customers dog to be able to get on so they wanted it lowered but due to the floor design they couldn’t just rip the old one out and lay the mattress on the floor.

The smallest roof we’ve done. Crazy thing is it didn’t go much faster than any others. We removed the 4 solar panels on the roof and coated under them as well. It turned out nicely but we definitely had to wash the sides after cleaning the roof.
