Gloss University Advanced Detailing Training Classes Worldwide

High-level paint correction is about more than achieving the perfect finish. It’s about knowing how to get there.

Block sanding offers incredible control, but not every project has the time or budget for that level of work.

Even at the highest levels, including SEMA builds, we’re often working within real-world limitations.

Knowing when to block sand, when to use machine sanding, and how to balance efficiency with quality is what separates an experienced technician.

At Gloss University, we focus on teaching the decision-making process behind the work, not just the techniques.

Choosing the right sanding block starts with understanding the panel.

Size, curvature, and the defects we’re leveling all guide that decision. Here, David explains why he chose a large, hard block to bridge the waves, and how a crosshatch pattern keeps material removal consistent.

Real challenges. Hands-on lessons. The decisions behind the process, at Gloss University.

What’s your go-to block for leveling a wavy panel?

Knowing what you can improve, and when to stop, is part of the skill.

David is using a razor blade to carefully lower the high spots of a clear coat run before sanding. The goal is a better finish, but complete removal isn’t always realistic.

That judgment comes from practice, patience, and time behind the tools.

How do you decide when a defect is good enough to leave alone?

Paint correction starts with understanding your tools, and the decisions behind how you use them.

Our final live online training of 2026 is December 5, built for beginner and intermediate technicians who are ready to build real knowledge and confidence.

Three 90-minute lessons:
Tools of the Trade
Pads & Abrasives
Practical Implementation on a real car, in real time

It’s live and interactive, and we’re capping it at 10 students so you can ask questions as we go.

Tuition is $450. That includes lifetime access to the Gloss University network and a $450 credit toward any and ALL future trainings.

Details are at the link in our bio.

What’s one thing you continue to struggle with when it comes to paint correction!?

22 years of detailing. Two classes at Gloss University. Already planning to come back for a third.

There’s always something new to learn and hearing how our training helped fill in the gaps is why we do this.

Our 2027 training schedule drops during SEMA week. If you’ve never joined us, now’s the time to start planning ahead.

Leveling a clear coat run starts before the sanding block touches the paint.

Here, David explains how carefully shaving down the raised material on the SRT helps preserve the surrounding clear.

The challenge is getting the repair flat without cutting through the thinner areas on either side of it.

Real paint problems. Real lessons. That’s what we bring to our training at Gloss University.

Real cars. Real paint challenges. Real lessons.

Our recent advanced wet sanding class gave students plenty to work through—including previous body repairs, uneven paint texture, and a clear coat run that needed a closer look.

Before reaching for sandpaper, we slow down, inspect the panel, and discuss what the paint is telling us.

Understanding the problem is part of learning how to approach it.

Have you encountered something like this on a repainted panel?

Bought sight unseen. Delivered on a snowy December day. And a story Chris is still telling nearly two decades later.

Through setbacks, repairs, and unfinished paintwork, he never gave up on his 2007 Chrysler 300C SRT8. We’ve known Chris and this car for years, and helping finish what he started made our six-year anniversary training weekend even more meaningful.

Hear Chris’s story and watch the transformation in our full documentary, now on YouTube. Link in bio.

Six years of Gloss University. Three days of challenging work. A story that goes well beyond the paint.

This weekend brought together students, longtime friendships, and a car with a story of its own. Watching the confidence grow and seeing Chris’s reaction made it all worth it.

Our six-year anniversary documentary is now live on YouTube. Thank you to everyone who’s been part of this journey.

One of the things we’re most proud of from our six-year anniversary class was watching this group come together.

They asked questions, helped each other, and worked through challenges as a team. As the car progressed, so did their confidence, in each other and in themselves.

That’s the kind of growth we love seeing most: not just better hands, but better teammates.

See their story in our full 20-minute documentary, premiering tomorrow, Friday, October 2, at noon Central on the Gloss University YouTube channel.
