As you can see after installing the new timing kit the slack is almost nonexistent. This is what you want to see when you look at your timing chain!

This is how I pulled up to a job to change some wheel bearings. The first photo is the incorrect way to install slot and drilled rotors and the second one is obviously the correct orientation. Not installing the slot and drilled rotors correctly severely hinders their cooling and gas/debris clearing ability, reducing braking performance, causing premature pad/rotor wear, increasing noise, and potentially leading to brake fade or failure, as the internal vanes and slots won't function as designed to "scoop" air and clean the pad surface. The main issue isn't the slot pattern on the outside, but the internal cooling vanes' direction; if they're angled, they act like a pump, and reversed, they become inefficient, leading to overheating.

Working on a head gasket on a 2016 Malibu with the 1.5 turbo and I wanted to show how much slack is in this timing chain. Obviously I’m changing the entire timing chain system as well as the head gasket so I’ll be sure to post a video after I install the new timing chain.
