For the past 22 years the Canisteo-Greenwood Community has been greatly enriched by the time and talents of Mr. James Freeland. The son of Don and Lynn Freeland, James was a graduate of Canisteo HS, class of 93. As an educator, mentor, father, and friend heβs continued to create his legacy in the Canisteo-Greenwood communities. James has helped innumerable students master the English language as a member of the English department at Canisteo Greenwood, teaching middle and high school English classes, college level composition and critical analysis, and drama. Outside of the classroom James has acted as a mentor and provider of opportunity to many of our communitiesβ youth as a little league coach, football coach, flag football coach, director of plays and musicals, organizer of the faculty/senior softball game, countless nights at the concession stands, lock in chaperone, announcer at events and advisor to the National Honor Society. In these roles James helped teach students dedication, discipline, character, and service. In the area, Jamesβ larger than life presence has been a staple at local talent shows, a bright spot at local events, and a tireless advocate for the youth of our communities. Whether it was through bringing students to see the Buffalo Bills as part of our flag football partnership, bringing students to see plays as part of ACE English class, organizing service projects for NHS students, or giving directions from the wings of the stage, Jamesβ impact on students has been one that has been great in scope, enduring in nature, and overwhelmingly positive for those students and youth lucky enough to have crossed paths with him. Sport Night is April 18th at the Main Place in Hornell. Ticket info coming soon! Post Sponsored by Simmons-Rockwell FORD of Hornell & The Hornell Moose Club
