A strawberry milkshake sounds like a perfect summer treat, but if your mechanic tells you your transmission fluid looks like one, it is a total automotive nightmare. Healthy automatic transmission fluid should be a bright, translucent cherry red. Over time, heat turns it a dark, burnt brown, meaning it’s losing its ability to protect your gears. But if it looks pink, milky, and frothy (like a milkshake), it means coolant has leaked into your transmission. This destroys the internal clutches almost instantly. Run it by our team before a small leak turns into a big replacement bill!

With road trips in full swing, when was the last time you checked your tire tread? 🛞 An easy hack is the penny test, where you simply take a penny and insert it Lincoln's head first into your tire grooves. 🪙👇

- If you can see the top of Abe’s head, your tires are dangerously bald and need to be replaced. 🛑
- If the rubber covers part of his head, you're good to go!

Need a second opinion? Contact us, and we’ll check your tread and tire pressure.

Looking for an incredibly easy way to save money at the pump? Check your dashboard! Make sure your A/C is set to Recirculate (the button with the little U-turn arrow inside a car silhouette). 🔄

When your A/C pulls in air from the outside, your engine has to work twice as hard to cool it down. Recirculating the cabin air means the system only has to remove a little bit of heat at a time. It keeps you ice-cold and maximizes your MPG!

We all try to dodge those brutal road-construction potholes, but sometimes a collision with a crater is unavoidable. 🕳️💥 While a massive impact can obviously pop a tire or bend a wheel rim, it also sends a violent shockwave directly into your wheel hub assembly. This impact can chip or dent the microscopic steel balls inside your wheel bearing.

You might not hear anything right away! It often takes 1 to 2 months of driving for that tiny dent to wear down the metal and turn into a loud, grinding sound. If you hit a massive pothole a few weeks back and your ride is suddenly starting to sound loud or vibrate, bring it by and let us inspect the hub assembly! 💪

"BEST Autoshop around, Autotrend! I found my new, trustworthy auto shop. Never going to the dealership again. I needed a big repair, & was afraid the dealership was fixing to do me wrong. So my sisters close friend Jimmy referred me to Kevin at Autotrend. I’m so very thankful I did. Kevin is amazing! He figured out the real issues within the day, gave me a quote. Gave me a 3 day time frame for the repair. Got me a Lyft ride to my job so I could get to work. Bonus, he had my car repairs done in 2 days! I day before expected. I was at the dealership 2 weeks prior, they said they only found a fuel code with the car. No other problems. Well, not true, it turned out to be a computer component for the major issue, then they found low coolant, & a leak in my coolant hose from passenger throttle body to the rear crossover bar. They fixed that too. The dealership didn’t find that big problem, but Kevin did. He is my new mechanic for life. Thank you to Kevin, Dave, & Eddie! I appreciate your honest, excellent service, I will share with my friends."

Under your hood, there is a crucial component keeping your engine's valves and pistons moving in harmony: the timing system. But do you know if your car uses a timing belt or a timing chain?

Knowing the difference is a huge deal for your wallet:
- Timing Chains are made of metal, lubricated by engine oil, and usually last the entire lifespan of the car.
- Timing Belts are made of rubber, sit outside the engine, and must be replaced every 60,000 to 100,000 miles to prevent a catastrophic snap!

Quick Hack: Check your owner's manual. If you see a replacement interval for a belt, you’ve got one! Need us to double-check? Give us a call or visit soon.
