🇺🇸Happy Flag Day! 🇺🇸

Do you know the story behind Flag Day? It's a day dedicated to celebrating the adoption of the Stars and Stripes as the official flag of the United States. Here's a brief look into its history:

On June 14, 1777, the Second Continental Congress passed a resolution stating, "Resolved, that the flag of the thirteen United States be thirteen stripes, alternate red and white; that the union be thirteen stars, white in a blue field, representing a new constellation." This marked the birth of the American flag as we know it today.

Flag Day, however, wasn't officially recognized until much later. The idea of celebrating this day was first suggested by Bernard J. Cigrand, a small-town Wisconsin teacher, in 1885. Cigrand passionately promoted the observance of Flag Day and is often credited as the "Father of Flag Day."

In 1916, President Woodrow Wilson issued a proclamation establishing June 14 as Flag Day. It wasn't until August 3, 1949, that President Harry S. Truman signed an Act of Congress designating June 14 as National Flag Day.

So, today, let's honor and celebrate our flag, a symbol of freedom, unity, and national pride. 🇺🇸✨
