✨A quick update from the shop!✨

As many of you know, Riley and I are getting married next weekend on Saturday, May 2nd! Afterward, we are heading out of town so I can completely unplug for our honeymoon. 💒🩵🥂

‼️Because of this, no repair work will be done at Snipes Automotive starting Friday, May 1st at 2:00 PM until we resume normal operations on Monday, May 11th. ‼️

However, the shop won't be completely closed! Kayla will be holding down the front counter next week. She will be answering phones📱, scheduling appointments for when we reopen📋, and tackling some deep cleaning around the shop. 🧹🧼🧽🪣

If you have a minor issue while I am away, Kayla can still help you out by pulling check engine codes🚗, checking your tire pressure🛞, or testing your battery🪫🔋. Just remember: ⚠️Absolutely NO repairs will be taking place until the 11th.⚠️

Also, my dad will likely be in and out of the building during the week, so don't be alarmed if you see people or a little activity around the shop while I'm gone.

If you need your vehicle serviced before the wedding, please call us ASAP so we can get you on the schedule.📞📆

Thank you all for your trust and support. See you on the 11th!

I really enjoy figuring out the "why" part of vehicle issues! Why is this vehicle stalling intermittently, why does it have catalytic converter codes for both sides of the engine. Why doesnt my 10k dollar scan tool tell me what part to replace! 😅

Here is a good example of how a code scan does not give you the answer but knowledge and testing will!

2015 Ford Tarurs 3.5L

Diagnostic Findings:
During our testing, we pinpointed the exact root cause of the engine stalling. A component called the EVAP purge valve, which is designed to safely route fuel vapors, has failed and is stuck open.

While the vehicle sits, this faulty valve allows concentrated fuel vapors to flood the engine. When you start the car, this excess fuel chokes the engine, causing the rough start and stalling. Also while the engine is running this stuck open valve acts as a vacuum pulling raw fuel into the intake and unfortunately, this raw fuel was continually forced into the exhaust system, which has potentially damaged the catalytic converters over time.

We get a lot of calls asking if customers can bring their own parts for us to install. We always politely decline, and we want to be completely transparent about why.

Think of it like a restaurant: you wouldn't buy a cheaper steak at the grocery store and ask a steakhouse to just charge you for the chef's time to cook it.

In automotive repair, everything we do carries a massive amount of liability. We strictly source high-quality parts that we can stand behind with a rock-solid warranty. If a cheaper, customer-supplied internet part fails, we can't warranty it, it ties up a bay, and most importantly, your vehicle's safety is compromised.

We see posts all the time from folks looking for a shop that won't "rip them off" with parts markups. Honestly, that mindset is just misinformed about what it actually takes to run a legitimate business.

The margin on parts isn't extra cash for the owner to get rich. It's the exact money that pays for the building rent, the $5,000 diagnostic scanners, and the heavy liability insurance that protects your car while it's in our care. At the end of the day, a business has to make a profit to survive.

Its all about making the math work. Here is a screenshot of doing a front brake job on a 2015 Escalade, straight from our internal software to the AI made whiteboard.

We are just trying to make an honest living and provide the absolute best service possible to our community. Same principal goes for any business, there is a cost to every minute of their time.
