Kilmer Robles (CHS Class of 2012) is a “llantero” and owner of IV Tire Shop.

"Since I was young, I’ve always liked cars—the look, the sound, everything about them. My first car was a 1976 Chevy Nova, a real muscle car. My dad and I worked on it together; we swapped out the motor for a V8, got it running, and even painted and reupholstered it. Everyone else was into tuner cars, but I stayed with the muscle car scene. It was great to be able to work on our cars with my friends back then."�

How did you turn that passion into a career?�

"After high school, I went to the Universal Technical Institute (UTI) in Rancho Cucamonga to get formal training and a degree in automotive mechanics. Then, during the pandemic, the opportunity came up to open a shop in Calexico, and I decided to go for it. It was the right time, and I liked the idea of being able to provide a service to people."�

What do you enjoy most about owning your own shop?

"I love helping people and being able to offer a service they can rely on. There’s pride in being an entrepreneur and in starting something from scratch.�

What services does IV Tire Shop offer?

"We provide new and used tire sales, tire repairs, rotations, balancing, and stud replacements. We also handle brakes, shocks, and oil changes. For convenience, I offer a payment plan through Acima, which lets customers pay interest-free over three months."�

What would you like potential customers to know?�

"First of all, come give a local tire shop a chance. I’m committed to giving excellent service, and I’m reliable and professional. You can reach out through social media or stop by—I'm here to make sure you go home satisfied. Give this young guy a chance.” �
