Car Buyers Set a Record with more than $1,000 a month car payments in Q2.
Car buyers nationally set a record in the second quarter as more opted for whoppingly long-term loans and monthly car payments that rivaled some monthly home mortgage bills. According to second-quarter data crunched by Edmunds.com, the share of new- vehicle buyers to commit to monthly payments of $1,000 or more hit an all-time high of 19.3%, or nearly 1 in 5 consumers. That's up from 17.8% in the year- ago quarter. The average monthly payment was $756, up $16 from a year earlier. Edmunds reported that car buyers are taking out longer-term loans to achieve palatable payments. In the quarter, 22.4% of new- vehicle financing were of loans 84 months or longer, a new record. In the second quarter last year, 84-month loans accounted for 17.6% of new-car financing. Source: Detroit Free Press

FYI...
This is very good information for everybody...

Most vehicles have a recirculation button as part of their AC controls, but many of us aren't sure when to use it. The simple rule of thumb is to use it in the summer and turn it off in the winter.
The recirculation button works by taking the air inside your car and recirculating it within the cabin, rather than pulling in fresh air from outside. On extremely hot days, if you don't use the recirculation feature, your AC system has to cool the hot air from outside, which can be less efficient. By recirculating the cooler air inside the car, you can cool your vehicle more quickly and reduce the strain on your AC system.
Side note: If your car has been sitting in the sun, it's better to roll the windows down and turn off recirculation for the first minute or so. This allows the superheated air inside to escape before you turn the recirculation on.
Additionally, anytime you're stuck in traffic-whether it's summer or winter--be sure to use the recirculation feature. If you're pulling air from outside,you're also pulling in pollutants and carbon monoxide from the traffic around you. Studies show that using the recirculation feature can reduce the amount of pollutants entering your vehicle by 20% when you're stuck in traffic.

25% TARIFF ON ALL NON-US ASSEMBLED VEHICLES AND IMPORTED AUTO PARTS.
The 25% tariff will be applied to imported passenger vehicles (sedans, SUVs, crossovers, minivans, cargo vans) and light trucks, as well as key automobile parts (engines, transmissions, powertrain parts, and electrical components), with processes to expand tariffs on additional parts if necessary.

Importers of automobiles under the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement will be given the opportunity to certify their U.S. content and systems will be implemented such that the 25% tariff will only apply to the value of their non-U.S. content.

USMCA-compliant automobile parts will remain tariff-free until the Secretary of Commerce, in consultation with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), establishes a process to apply tariffs to their non-U.S. content.

27% of new vehicles for sale today were assembled outside of North America
Of the 2.9M 2025/2026 model year vehicles for sale today, 789K were assembled outside of North America and imported.
