I am always excited when I can get jobs that take me up to the lake. This recent dodger job took me up on Oak Orchard Creek in Waterport. How can you have a bad day when this is your office?

As promised a couple weeks ago, here is the update on the “cat’s cradle” rocker.
The wife of the family that asked me to reupholster this chair for them, recalls rocking in this chair with her grandfather. We estimate this chair to be, at the low end, 70 plus years old. While it had been reupholstered at least once, it still possessed its original horse hair, straw batting, and cotton.
After repairs to a few loose joints, re-tying of the springs, and new webbing, I was able to start putting the soft goods on. The neutral colored material with its rustic woven appearance will go great with any decor. Its stain and fade resistant properties ensure it will last many more generations.

Today’s task is what I refer to as upholsterers cat’s cradle. Tying springs together in this fashions keeps the springs from sliding around under the topping materials and forces them to work in unison to evenly distribute weight. Heavy burlap will be placed over the springs to keep them from poking through the padding, which in this case will be horse hair. Be sure to like and follow to see more of this chair.

I had the pleasure of doing work for another local fire department. This time I was tasked with making a hose bed cover. Created with 18 oz. vinyl coated polyester, ten oz. vinyl coated mesh, and UV resistant bonded polyester thread, this cover will ensure the hose is in the same place it was when you left the hall. 😬

I failed to post these boat seats from a few weeks back. Some new foam topped with snow white vinyl with red pipping will make the cabin of this charter boat look and feel like new.

This one is a little bit out of the norm. A genuine cowhide headliner. Light brown leather sun visors will complete the look. Going to look sharp when in all comes together.
