It’s one of the last big boating weekends of summer, and the waterways will be BUSY! A few quick reminders before you head out:
⚓ Check your fuel — and remember, your gauge isn’t always your best friend.
🛟 Have a life jacket for everyone aboard — and make sure they’re accessible.
📱 Charge your phone — but don’t rely on it as your only means of communication.
📻 Keep your VHF on Channel 16 and know how to use it.
🌊 Check the weather AND tides before leaving the dock.
🪢 Check your lines, anchor and safety gear before getting underway.
🍻 Have a sober operator — save the celebrating for when you’re safely tied up.
👀 Keep a sharp lookout — holiday weekends mean more boat traffic and plenty of people who may be unfamiliar with the area.
📍 Know where you are! Being able to give an accurate location makes getting help to you much faster.
