Bonneville Land Speed World Finals wrap up:
- we ran in the fuel class on E85 instead of gas with a record of 219 mph
- G engine class, 4 cylinder, 122 CI (2 liter) over 1000 hp
- I was was the primary driver this event
- we were able break the 219 world record on my second run with a 220mph qualifying speed!
- top speed of 221 mph
- discovered major damage to engine, with water in cylinders
- pumped the water out of the engine, most likely head gasket failure or crack… but oil was clean and engine ran… so we decided to back up the record with a hurt engine.
- sadly could not back up the record, I could only get the car to 190 mph on the hurt engine ☹️
- the rockstar team of and decided to rebuild it on the salt and try again!
- we were able to replace the head gasket in time for racing on the final day
- final day of racing was rained out😞
That’s racing.
So close to that elusive 200mph club red hat…
