Had the opportunity to tune Dennis Ball's clean, original owner, '95 GT for my good Friend, Beau Dunnivant at Blue Oval Classics in Blountville. Beau fixed a lot of issues on it as well as installing an Edelbrock RPM II intake, AFR 165 heads and a Steeda #19 cam car made 274 rwhp and 287 rwtq. I normally don't tune push rod 5.0 cars anymore but I've been tuning his customer's as well as mine at his place since 2004!! so I'll tune whatever he needs,LOL.

A couple of projects I completed during Dec. Paul Bledsoe's 347ci, '85(?) GT, I rebuilt the complete rear end this past summer with 3.55 gears, bearings, spool, C-clip eliminators, 31 spline axles; car is street driven but after drag racing it some he wanted to do a gear swap to 4.30's so that's what I did , car went 6.90's on motor and 6.50's with a small shot of nitrous before the swap.

Zach Webb's 2010 GT500, did 3.73 gears, bearings and diff swap on this one.

Dyno'd Zach's '98 F150 with a Lightning engine with better internals and small cams, it hit over 400hp around 4800rpms where it ran out of injector, he's upgrading the injectors soon and we'll see what it really has!

Just a few I've did in the last few weeks and they ALL had issues before they were completed, I lost money on every one of them!!! Everyone thinks the tuning/performance thing is great until the real crazy problems start! It's ***NOT*** the ***CUSTOMERS FAULT*** sometimes it just doesn't go right.
First, is Tom Johnson's '05 GT, he had a Howard's performance cam and new timing set installed and I did a custom tune for it; it started going into limp mode at 70 mph & after bringing it to me and diagnosing it, I found out I was given the wrong information on the rear gear set (which is imperative, especially on automatics cars which this one was) Always VERIFY what you have, not assuming or even relying on the previous owner telling you what it is and once the correct gear set was input into the tune, problem solved.

Next was David Hirt's '98 Cobra, did a complete differential overhaul with new Ford Performance gears, bearings, axles, fl**ge, rebuilt 8.8 L*D he bought from me after I went through it and made sure all was good in it, even put a new breather in it! Upon driving it heard a strange rumbling noise, after tearing it COMPLETELY apart again ( including disassembling the both mine AND his original L*D unit's and remeasuring the clutch shims) reassembled it all only to conclude it was tire noise!!! To add insult to injury, I forgot to replace the rt rear ABS unit correctly the second time and damaged it to the point it will need to be replaced, 15 hrs of labor. charged him for 7! I nearly always try to drive the vehicle before starting on them to make note of things like this, this time I didn't and paid the price for it!

Last is Greg Taylor's 2010 GT NASA Street Iron series car, these cars weight is based off torque which is dyno'd at each & every track they go to, the goal is to make as much horsepower as possible while making as little torque, quite different than anything I've ever did which is make the most of BOTH. I started on the right path but overthought it and went down the wrong "rabbit hole", thankfully Justin Gaddell and Logan Cross, owners of RPG where we dyno'd at got me back on track with some good advice and we got it, The dyno sheet shows how we started out and where we finished, lost 2-3 hp but killed the torque from 333 ft lbs down to 311 which saved him near 300 lbs in weight to have to haul around!!

Haven't posted in a while, here's just a few projects I worked on this summer. Kevin Kyle's (K&K) GORGEOUS '94 Cobra I built the 347 engine for many moons ago just got dyno'd this summer, very conservative tune ( I didn't tune it),11 # YSI Vortech,E85, dyno sheet in pics
Rick Rathbuns totally custom '49 Studebaker with a s/c'd Terminator Cobra engine, did some troubleshooting on this one

Stephen Bishop's nearly perfect '93 LX, did some inspection/troubleshooting here

Aaron Baird's AWESOME '89 LX, too much to list on this one, as much as I hate to admit it,this one beat me, had an idle issue I just couldn't work out and as nice and well put together as this car is, I still had to admit defeat, I have committed to one more foxbody and that's it again for the pushrod stuff, no more!! Won't tune them again. Sorry, I couldn't get this one for you Aaron!!

Misti Hollifields Vortech V-3 s/c'd, all stock '02 GT, tuned this one to 350+hp on a very rainy day and stock converters still in place. She's gonna have fun playing around drag racing this one!

Josh Brooks '07 GT, did a simple 93 Octane street tune and a JLT CAI on this nice ride

I know I post a lot of engine builds here, most folks think everything goes smooth as silk but nothing could be FURTHER from the truth!! It's really bad when you fool yourself, even when you know better! Here's a video on how dumb was despite knowing better,Enjoy!

Had a chance to go to RPG in Greenback yesterday for the first time to tune Darryl Richard's, beautiful, Vortech V-3 supercharged, '04 GT and to meet Darryl, Logan and Tyler for the first time, great guys and facility! Tuned the car remotely initially and everything went well and finally got it on the dyno. Car made 377 rwhp and 377 rwtq, on a conservative tune, first time I've ever had the horsepower and torque the same!

Got a chance to do a look over, tune adjustment and fix some minor stuff on one of the cleanest Fox bodies, I've seen in a while!, Stephen Bishop's 64K mile, '93 LX, my pics don't do it justice. This car drives, rides and steers as good as my stock LX. Car has Trick Flow U/L intake, T.F.heads, Anderson N-41 cam, 6 speed trans swap

Been a busy spring break!!! Put Hot Rod cams, phasers & VCT solenoids and did a custom tune for Andrew Lane's '07 GT, this one wasn't without it's drama as we had a valve spring keeper come out on the hardest to access valve spring, THANKS for the help Zach Webb!! (video)

Did a dyno tune on JR Dockery's beautiful, '04 Mystic colored Cobra with LT's and a 2.8 Kenne-Bell Kenne Bell Superchargers, car made 563 rwhp & 499 rwtq with a conservative tune,it was still making power but customer was satisfied where it was, I think 580 was well within easy reach

Did an 8.8" Ford rearend rebuild for Paul Bledsoe with a Ford Performance 3.55 gear, Strange 35 spline spool, axles and C-clip
eliminators (no pic)

Performed another dyno tune, this time on Austin Bays,nice,1990 GT, with a newly installed On 3 turbo kit installed by Beau at Blue Oval Classics in Blountville, This one gave us a fit! Had several unforseen mechanical issues rear their ugly heads that killed alot of time but the tuning went great (only 3 full pulls) to dial this one in but due to the fight this one put up I completely forgot to take any engine pics or even get a copy of the dyno sheet!! It made 432 rwhp & 400 lb ft of torque on a conservative tune (could've easily made 450ish) with a dead flat air/fuel ratio of 11.8 but due to time constraints and nearing the dependability of the stock block we settled for that

A few projects I forgot to post: This one was way out of my wheelhouse!! Cory Bennett's Chevy LT with new LT crank, Diamond pistons, Texas Speed camshaft, Holley short runner intake and Holley oil pan, ATI balancer, engine is destined for a single turbo and going into a 1988 Pontiac Safari WAGON!!! That his mom bought new!! I had only built one LS engine for Kris Hazen around 2009 and this was my first foray into the LT based engines.

Kenneth Sweeney's 1996 GT drift car with a DJ's Performance 4V engine swap that I did a custom tune on.

Austin Bays 1990 Mustang Gt that I checked out for an anticipated ATI Procharger, car has aluminum heads, cam and intake at present

Worked on something TOTALLY out of my wheelhouse this week!! A 1931 Ford Model A Standard that has been in the same immediate family since it was NEW!! Replaced a blown head gasket on the tiny 4 cyl engine, it was a thrill to work on it and especially get asked to drive it! ( Have to work on my shifting in the non-synchronized 3 speed transmission, guess I'm too used to not lifting off the gas pedal on all those Mustangs and my GTX, back in the day! LOL). The car belongs to Dr. Scott Walker, who's Uncle bought it new in 1931, when he went off to WW 2, Scott's dad became the owner and courted Scott's Mom in it! When he passed Scott became the owner and will pass it on to his family!
