Q: How do I know if my window seal has failed?
If you’re seeing fog or condensation between the panes of your window, it may not be something you can simply clean away.
Insulated glass windows rely on a sealed space between the panes. When that seal fails, moisture can get in — leaving behind that familiar cloudy or foggy appearance.
Here’s the easy way to tell: if the moisture is between the panes, you won’t be able to wipe it away from either side.
And a failed seal doesn’t necessarily mean the entire window needs to be replaced. Depending on the window and the damage, replacing the insulated glass unit may be an option.
