One of the MOST common reasons Prius hybrid batteries fail is poor airflow and lack of maintenance. The battery vent and cooling fan often get clogged with dust, pet hair, and debris — just like this one. As you can see, the mesh guard is completely covered, choking the battery and causing it to run HOT.
