🛻 Got a boat, camper, equipment trailer, or something heavy to haul this weekend? Before you hook up and hit the road, Jimmy and the crew at Southern 4x4 & Auto have a few things they want you to check!

✅ Tires & Tire Pressure – Check your truck AND trailer tires. Proper inflation matters even more when you’re hauling extra weight.

✅ Brakes – Make sure your truck’s brakes are in good shape and your trailer brakes are working properly, if equipped.

✅ Towing Capacity – Just because your truck can pull it doesn’t mean it should! Know your truck’s towing limits, payload capacity, and tongue weight.

✅ Hitch & Connections – Double-check your hitch rating, coupler, safety chains, breakaway cable, and trailer lights.

✅ Suspension – Excessive rear-end sagging can affect handling, steering, and braking. Don’t ignore it!

✅ Fluids & Cooling System – Towing puts additional stress on your engine and transmission, especially in our Florida heat!

💡 Jimmy’s Tip: A truck that drives perfectly fine empty can behave VERY differently with a few thousand pounds behind it. A little preparation before towing can save you a whole lot of trouble down the road!

Thinking about leveling your truck? Before you do, here are a few things Jimmy wants you to know!

Most trucks come from the factory with the rear sitting slightly higher than the front. A leveling kit raises the front to give your truck a more even stance.

But here’s what you should know. 👇

🔧 It’s not the same as a lift kit. A leveling kit typically raises the front 1–3 inches rather than lifting the entire truck.

🛞 Bigger tires? Maybe! Depending on your truck, a leveling kit may give you room for slightly larger tires, but fitment still matters.

⚠️ Installation matters! The wrong setup can affect suspension geometry, ride quality, and tire wear.

✅ Don’t forget the alignment! Proper alignment after installation is important to help protect your tires and handling.

Jimmy’s advice? Don’t just pick a kit based on how high you want your truck to sit. Make sure it’s the right setup for your specific vehicle and how you drive it.

Jimmy and the crew at Southern 4x4 & Auto recently got their hands on this 1982 Jeep Scrambler, and she’s looking mighty good!

Here’s what the team tackled:

There’s just something about these classic Jeeps, especially when they’ve got the stance and attitude to match!

🛻 TIP: Your truck might feel a little different after a day off-road — and there’s usually a reason.

Mud, rocks, ruts and uneven terrain can affect more than just how dirty your truck gets.

After off-roading, pay attention to things like:

• A new vibration
• Steering that feels different
• Pulling to one side
• Mud packed inside the wheels
• New clunks, squeaks or rattles

Here’s the quick hack: before assuming something major is wrong, give your wheels, tires and undercarriage a good look and wash. Packed mud alone can sometimes throw off wheel balance and cause a noticeable shake.

And if it still feels different afterward, that’s when it’s worth having it checked out.

You drive your vehicle all the time, which means you notice the little things before anyone else does.
