There are only two sunrises left before The Wall That Heals leaves Brookings and begins its journey to its next community.

The Wall That Heals is open 24 hours a day and will close at 2 PM on Sunday, June 14.

This is what the 50 Veterans, 50 States project is all about. 🇺🇸❤️

Bob isn't just South Dakota's veteran in this incredible nationwide effort—he's a member of our local community.

At 81 years old, Bob is still working to make ends meet after a lifetime of service, sacrifice, and putting others before himself. A Navy veteran, devoted husband, hardworking neighbor, and friend, Bob has spent his life helping those around him.

Now, it's our turn to show up for him.

We're honored to share Bob's story and help spread the word right here in South Dakota. If you're able, please consider donating or sharing this post. Together, we can help a local veteran retire with the dignity, comfort, and peace of mind he has earned.

At 81 years old, Navy veteran Bob should be enjoying retirement with peace of mind. Instead, he’s still working just to make ends meet. ❤️🇺🇸

After serving his country, Bob returned to work when his Navy pension was no longer enough to cover the rising cost of living. Those who know him describe him as one of the hardest-working and kindest people they’ve ever met.

Over the years, Bob has endured heartbreaking loss. He cared for his wife until her final days, using much of his savings to support her and his family. Since then, financial struggles have continued to follow him.

Today, Bob lives in the family home he loves, but it’s falling into disrepair. The roof leaks, winters are difficult, and he constantly worries about keeping the house warm and preventing frozen pipes. His vehicles are aging and unreliable, yet he continues pushing forward every day.

What makes Bob special is that despite having so little, he still gives to others. Whether it’s sharing food, helping a neighbor, or offering what little money he has, Bob has always put others before himself.

Now it’s our turn to show up for him. South Dakota this is your veteran, this is veteran & state 40/50!

Let’s help this veteran retire with dignity, comfort, and the peace he has spent a lifetime helping others find. ❤️ - thank you Coffey Anderson for surprising him.
