Northeast Ohio Drivers — Heads Up.
Cleveland and the surrounding areas just took a significant snowfall, with more accumulation on the way. Conditions like this demand disciplined, defensive driving and smart decision-making.
Key winter driving best practices:
Slow your operating speed well below posted limits. Stopping distances increase exponentially in deep snow.
Increase following distance to at least 6–8 seconds.
Avoid sudden acceleration, braking, or sharp steering inputs—smooth inputs preserve traction.
Clear all snow and ice from windows, mirrors, headlights, and your roof before departure.
If visibility drops or roads worsen, delay travel if at all possible.
If you become stuck or need roadside assistance:
Stay with your vehicle unless you are in immediate danger.
Turn on hazard lights to improve visibility.
Keep your exhaust pipe clear of snow to prevent carbon monoxide buildup.
Run the vehicle intermittently for heat, not continuously.
Call for professional roadside assistance rather than risking injury by pushing or flagging traffic.
