What have we here? Looks like a Trucking Icon.
The one & only "Madillac" built 25 years ago. This build graced the cover of every magazine & won awards everywhere it went. Its been off the radar for a few years until a few weeks ago a friend of ours purchased it. He had us take care of a few updates & repairs as he is bringing it back to the show scene for all to see.

Ol Red recieved a few updates over the last few months. Jim & I spent a few of our Saturdays & Sundays getting it taken care of. I was doing my best to keep it hidden back at the house through the week till we got it done for Slamboree last weekend.

For those who dont know the history.
My son purchased this truck when he was 14. It was a one owner truck with under 100k miles that was a daily driver for a gentleman that worked at Phillips in Bartlesville. The paint was extremely sun cooked, but otherwise in pretty good condition.
We had the truck painted & did a few little upgrades for him to daily drive this truck through high-school & college.
I honestly didn't expect it to survive the teenage years, but Nate took great care of it.
Nate decided he wanted a 4wd extended cab so we found him one & I purchased this from him.
When these trucks debuted & hit the dealerships in late 1987 I wanted one so bad, but being 15 it wasn't an option. I went to the local dealership & drooled over the trucks identical to this one multiple times, but I never ended up with one. Over the years I owned many OBS trucks, but never the Red 1988 short bed single cab that I dreamed of when I was a kid.
When Nate decided to sell it, I jumped on it.
At this point I had just started RTS & this truck was being driven almost daily & many people knew me through this truck.
A few years later my son & I completed a 5/7 drop & put some custom wheels on it & it remained that way for the last 5 years.
After selling "Grampy" I decided it was time to make a few updates. Phase one of the updates is now completed. There are a few more phases in the plans, but Customer work always comes first & my projects take the back burner so it will be a while till I get started on phase 2.
This truck has sentimental value to me I have no intention of ever getting rid of it.

Everyone's big question with me bringing Jim into the shop was how I thought the dogs would do with him.
Well today was day two of the dogs being back up at the shop with Jim here. We kept the pups at home the first week so we could focus on getting Jim acclimated to the shop.
Im going to say things are going well.
Lol
