R. Simpson, Nielsen, A. Fett, Shryock, Mills Capture Britt Wins

In spite of over four inches of rain falling at the Hancock County Speedway two nights prior to Friday, a massive effort by the track crew and fair board got track ready for action. The event was sponsored by Nutrien Ag Solutions and J & K Mathas Farms.

In the Cruiser division, last yearโ€™s IMCA Stock Car National Champion, Kelly Shryock added to the lengthy list of cars heโ€™s won in, as he went to victory lane with 13-year-old Ryan Simpson in the R5 two-person cruiser. Greg and Amelia Sidles battled hard and finished second, while Zach and Brody Vader drove from seventh to third ahead of Cole Preston and Ethan Preston.

Brandon Nielsen made quick moves to the front of the IMCA Hobby Stock main and held off a charging fast to claim his second victory at Britt this season. Jeff Fink had a good run to third in his first trip to Britt, fending off Drew Barglof, who drove from his 10th starting spot to finish fourth.

Alec Fett also won his second feature event in a row at Britt in the IMCA SportMods, getting past early leader Josh Appel to do so. Appel finished second ahead of a charging Jake Simpson who started 11th on the grid and finished third. Dustin West completed the event in fourth.

In the IMCA Stock Cars, Colby Fett made it three wide early on the top to get the lead and then step away from the field. A caution past the halfway mark bunched the field though, and Kelly Shryock started applying pressure once the field went back to green. Shryock drove past Fett in the late gong to win this third feature in a row at Britt. Fett finished second ahead of Troy Swearingen and Justin Ades, who racing from 12th to fourth.

Nick Meyer led early in the IMCA Modifieds, holding off Jeremy Mills at the flag stand each lap. Mills kept building his momentum and eventually got past Meyer and ran away with the main. Meyer finished second, ahead of Matt Looft and Colby Fett.

Racing returns to the Hancock County Speedway on Tuesday, July 28th for the Hancock County District Fair Black Dirt Nationals.

Sometimes the best nights at the racetrack start with the hardest work.

After 4ยฝ inches of rain fell Wednesday into Thursday, there were plenty of reasons to think Friday night's races might not happen. But thanks to an incredible group of dedicated people, they did.

Thank you to everyone who spent countless hours running pumps, laying hoses, moving water, working equipment, prepping the track, and simply refusing to give up. It wasn't glamorous work, and most of it happened long before the first race fan walked through the gate.

Because of your effort, determination, and teamwork, we not only raced... we ended up with an amazing racing surface that produced outstanding competition all night long.

To our volunteers, the Fairboard, officials, track crew, sponsors, drivers, fans, and everyone who pitched in wherever needed... thank you. Hancock County Speedway is special because of people like you!
