Most people hear "sealed transmission" and assume it means maintenance-free.

What it actually means is the manufacturer removed the easy access point. Overfilling and wrong fluid specs were destroying more units than low fluid ever did, so they took the dipstick away. The fluid still breaks down on schedule.

ZF, one of the largest transmission makers on earth, states clearly in its own service documents: change the fluid and filter on the 8HP automatic at roughly 50,000 to 80,000 miles, or sooner under heavy use. Many car brands using that exact transmission still print "lifetime fill" in their owner's manuals. Identical hardware, completely contradictory guidance.

Checking fluid in a sealed transmission requires a fill plug, a level reading at a specific temperature, and usually a scan tool. That makes it a shop procedure, not a weekend task. But treating "sealed" as "never service it" is exactly how a 300-dollar fluid change turns into a 4,000-dollar rebuild.

The word "sealed" describes access, not longevity, so schedule the service anyway.⠀[IK2AG]

We wanted to let everyone know that we will be closed this coming Saturday, March 7th. We will re-open Monday as normal.
We have made the decision to close the first Saturday of each month to give our crew a weekend to enjoy their families. Some exceptions will modify those days if any holidays fall into the same week.
