Thank you all for stopping by the SGC Campers booth at overlandexpo Mountain West last weekend in Colorado! It was great to see both new and old faces. Special thanks go to nomad Outfitters and paul_emmel50 for representing SGC so well.

During the expo I try to take an hour or 2 to walk around and check out new overland products. Here are a couple new and existing products I highly recommend: drybrew - coffee in a chewy lozenge form, byrnanation - self defense alternative (made in Indiana), timbren_industries - maintenance free axleless suspension for your trailer (ask for Shawn), 74weld - portal axles for a variety of vehicles which provides both lift and ground clearance without having to modify factory vehicle suspension - I will be using these in the future, hestoutdoors mattresses, pillows, and bedding. Their products are cushy and comfy. We just started offering Hest options on our SGC truck campers and bontrageroutdoors towable campers. MidlandUSA radios are what I run, but gme_usa is rolling out some nice, Australia-made radios to compete in the USA. extrememist personal cooling systems; they are battery-powered and pump water from a reservoir into a hose with multiple misters to provide cooling by way of water mist. I just installed kingpin_equipped lighting in my BaseCap and loved them on my recent trip to the west. Awesome current products and they have some amazing products coming out in the future.

Overall the 5000 mile trip went well. Long but beautiful. It's an honor to have to travel the west for work. Still tired but recovering from the road trip.

One final note on SGC campers. We have exciting new trims that we'll start offering in calendar year 2027 and 2028. For now we now offer a new Starlink mount as an alternative to the rooftop solar panel. I run it on my BaseCap and it provides satellite connectivity in both travel and camp modes as it flips 180 degrees.

SGC has also rolled out a sideways sliding storage box which can be installed in front of a Model 6.5 on a Ford F-250 or F-350. Paul Emmel runs this on his truck and loves it.

Big road trip coming up! Not sure if I should drive (77 hours), walk (75 days), or bike (20 days). I'd prefer to walk or bike, but should probably drive. If you're in Loveland, Colorado for Overland Expo from August 21-23, come by and see us. SGC will be in the Nomad Outfitters booth for the weekend. We'll have a Model 6.5 Full Kit and Model 6.5 BaseCap on display for your viewing pleasure.

Here at SGC Campers & Bontrager Outdoors in Northern Indiana, we LOVE it when customers stop in when they're travelling through. We're 1 mile from the Elkhart East exit of US 80/90 so it is very easy to find us.

Last week we were visited by Paul Emmel. Paul is a customer of Nomad Outfitters in Englewood, Colorado (near Denver). Although Tyler had been working with Paul for a while, we first met him in Denver at an Overland Camping/RV Show. Paul had his truck in our display and helped work the show to talk to customers about his SGC Camper. Since then, he has been at every Overland Expo where SGC Campers are displayed, working alongside us.

How Paul found his camper:
After Paul had retired from his career as an MLB umpire, he was looking for a camper that is easy to use, true cab height profile, and was built to last on long expeditions across the country. He attended a camper show, rounded a corner and saw the SGC with Tyler standing next to it. He said, "That's what I've been looking for!"

Like any camper, there are minor issues that pop up. Paul was at SGC last week to repair some of those items.

One feature that you'll find only on Paul's truck and camper is a front storage box. Paul owns a Ford F-250. Ford designed their current standard beds on 3/4- and 1-tons to have an inside length of 6'-8.5". We designed the Model 6.5 in 1 overall size to optimally fit the 6'6" bed range (Ram beds are shortest and Fords are longest). When Paul's SGC was pushed all the way to the rear of the bed, he was left with a fairly large (4-5") gap. We brainstormed with Tyler and came up with a lockable, sliding storage box for this application. We prototyped and installed it on Paul's truck for him to try out last year. So far we think he loves it, but you'll have to attend Overland Expo to chat with Paul personally for true feedback. If anyone wants this box, please reach out: [email protected].

It's always a great day when one of our customers stops in. Bruce is one of the first owners of the SGC Model GLR (for Gladiator) truck bed camper. He made the trip all the way from southern California to pick up his new motorcycle from Janus Motorcycles and is camping along the way.

He has made many mods to his Jeep and SGCamper which we love to see.

Another happy customer! We installed an SGC Model 5.0 BaseCap camper on Doug's Toyota Tacoma Overland Expo SoCal this weekend. He and his wife live in a neighborhood in San Juan Capistrano with a very strict HOA not allowing any trucks with campers installed to be parked outside of the garage without a special permit. Their requirements were that the truck and camper needed to fit in their garage, be able to store their bikes inside behind lock and key, and have a built-in sleeping space. The SGC BaseCap was just the ticket for them and it allows them to go even further on their adventures!😃
