Well it's amazing we were able to have campfires this long in July. Please note that we are now under the fire ban until further notice.
HIGH FIRE DANGER DECLARED IN JEFFERSON COUNTY EFFECTIVE 8 am July 22.
The Jefferson County Fire Marshal and Jefferson County Fire Chiefs have declared a High Fire Hazard, effective immediately, due to hot, dry weather and increasingly hazardous field conditions.
During High Fire Hazard conditions, fires can ignite quickly, spread rapidly, burn intensely, and become difficult to control unless they are contained while still small.
The following restrictions are now in effect:
• All recreational burning and campfires are prohibited
• Outdoor burning remains restricted
• Target shooting outside established gun ranges is prohibited
• Exploding targets and incendiary ammunition are prohibited
• Charcoal briquettes are prohibited, except when used in a commercially manufactured, listed, and labeled barbecue at a residence
• Hunting remains permitted in areas that are otherwise open
As a reminder, the discharge of fireworks is also prohibited during the High Fire Hazard declaration.
These restrictions will remain in effect until weather and field conditions improve enough for officials to determine that the threat to residents, property, firefighters, and emergency responders has decreased.
Please take these restrictions seriously. If you see smoke, an unattended fire, or suspected unauthorized burning, call 911 immediately.
