We get this question a lot, so we wanted to take a moment to explain it on a deeper level.
Why do we charge for diagnostics?
Yesterday, a customer gave us the perfect reminder of exactly why proper diagnostics matter.
Last year, this customer brought us a Hyundai with engine trouble. We could’ve simply pulled a code, made an assumption, and started recommending repairs.
But that’s not how we do things at Blessed Hands Garage.
We took the time to properly diagnose the vehicle, research the issue, and dig deeper. What we found changed everything, the engine issue was covered by the manufacturer.
So instead of selling our customer an engine, we told him to take it to the dealership.
The result?
A brand-new engine at NO COST to the customer.
That’s the difference between simply reading a code and actually diagnosing a vehicle.
When you pay for diagnostics, you’re not paying someone to just plug in a scanner. You’re paying for years of training, experience, research, specialized equipment, and the knowledge to interpret what the vehicle is actually telling us.
And sometimes, the right diagnosis means telling a customer:
“Don’t spend your money here. Take it back to the manufacturer.”
Could we have sold an engine? Sure.
But doing what’s right for our customers will always matter more than making a sale.
