Here we have a Ford 1.6l engine. Another shop attempted a water pump replacement and removed the harmonic balancer in the process. If you have ever owned one you might know why.

This engine uses a torque to yield bolt on the harmonic balancer and does not have a keyway on the crankshaft for the timing belt pulley. Its basically just sandwiched in there with no woodruff key or anything to hold it in place like alot of other vehicles.

Doing this water pump does not require this bolt to be removed and having done so could have severely damaged this engine if put back together incorrectly.
