Before You Reach for the Clay Bar, Let Your Chemicals Work!

This white Mercedes-Benz had heavy contamination, and the paint literally felt and sounded like sandpaper!

Rather than immediately assuming the vehicle needed to be clay barred, I wanted to see what proper chemical pretreatment could accomplish first.

I treated the bugs with Koch-Chemie Green Star, followed by a Multi Star pre-soak at 20:1. After a thorough pressure rinse, the difference was remarkable! The surface felt smooth, the noticeable roughness was gone, and no clay bar was needed!

Even with this level of contamination, I was able to continue with the modified rinseless wash process I’ve been testing. The finished results speak for themselves!

The lesson? Don’t automatically reach for mechanical decontamination. Let your chemicals do their job first, evaluate the surface, and adapt your process accordingly.

It’s the little details that make a big difference!

Faded exterior plastic trim can take away from a vehicle’s overall appearance. Restoring that rich black finish brings back contrast, frames the body lines, and gives the vehicle a cleaner, more refined look.

Using Koch-Chemie Plast Star (PSS), I carefully treat the wheel arch trim, lower body panels, and those hard to reach areas that are often overlooked.

Because professional detailing isn’t just about the paint. It’s about the entire vehicle and the attention given to every detail.

Modified Rinseless Wash , Same Preparation, Different Approach!

After receiving questions from fellow detailers, I wanted to demonstrate exactly how I’m incorporating Koch-Chemie Rapid Rinseless Wash into my traditional exterior detailing process.

My preparation remains the same. The difference is substituting rinseless wash for traditional shampoo and eliminating the entire post-contact rinse.

The benefits? Reduced water consumption, potential product cost savings, fewer steps, and improved efficiency — especially valuable for mobile detailers.

I also performed this process outdoors, in direct sunlight, without a canopy, to demonstrate that it can be done under those conditions with proper technique.

Remember, no single wash process works for every situation. The condition of the vehicle determines my approach, the products I use, and my dilution ratios. It’s all about adapting the process to the vehicle in front of you.

Cleaning stained cloth seats with controlled chemical application, heat, and agitation!

I start by applying my cleaning solution directly to my Scrub Ninja pad rather than spraying the upholstery. This allows me to target stained areas without unnecessarily saturating the fabric.

Next, I briefly hover my steamer over the seat, then release the trigger and use the heat retained in the microfiber bonnet for additional agitation and cleaning, without continuously injecting steam into the material.

The goal is effective cleaning while controlling chemical application, heat, and moisture.

Remember, more chemical and more moisture don’t necessarily mean better cleaning!

A simple technique I use when cleaning heavily soiled floor mats!

After vacuuming, I flip the mat upside down on my worktable and use compressed air on the backside to help dislodge embedded dirt and debris.

Much of that contamination falls onto the table beneath the mat rather than being blown directly into the air.

It’s a simple approach I use to help reduce airborne dust and potential inhalation exposure while detailing.

Remember, working smarter also means working safer!

This Subaru STI came in covered in heavy contamination, bird droppings, and road grime! 🚗💦

Koch-Chemie pre-soak at 20:1, followed by a KCX Gentle Snow Foam contact wash. Finished it off with a headlight restoration that brought those headlights back to life! 🔥
