Wanted to keep this page alive… YES! we still service (non warranty) Subarus and YES we are still in business! We changed the name of the shop so people don’t think we ONLY work on subarus, but we are still here 🙂 The name on the sign is Appalachian Sales and Service because it fit out business model a little more, but we’re still the areas PREMIERE Subaru service shop. Anyone can fix a car, but Subies are a little quirky and we are well acquainted with most of their quirks. We ARE doing other work in the solar industry, it is seasonal and with winter fast approaching, please keep us in mind for ALL of your mechanic type repair needs. We service everything from ATV’s to Campers, but Subies still have a special place in our heart. Messages are replied to quickly and while time is short right now, soon we will have a wide open schedule!

Hey folks, I’ve gotten a few messages over the past year asking if I’m still open for business…. The answer is “sort of”. I’ve been pursuing another career with less hours and more money for my family, but, the shop is still operational! I have weird hours and usually only work in there on “rainy days”, so generally we will not have a quick turnover. Feel free to send us a message or text/call (during normal business hours please) and we’ll see if we can do something for you. Thanks for looking - Micah

Do you have an old subaru laying around the yard collecting mold and leaves? Give us a call, we might buy it for more than the scrap haulers pay. Sometimes when the head gaskets go, it’s more expensive than people want to pay to get their car fixed, so, they just end up being junked... we hate to see that happen. Give us a call, we might only buy it for parts, but, at least being an organ donor is better than going to the crusher 🙂

Bring your car to us and we might even let little baby Asa work on it. Child labor laws only apply if you get caught LOL

It may be kind of hard to understand what's going on here but when your brakes start making a noise bring them to us so this doesn't happen. Not going to name any names LOL, however this is what happens when the brake pad is gone the backer plate for the brake pad is gone and you start using the Piston of your brake caliper. My guess is this person had been hearing a pretty terrible sound for a long time. If your car is ever anything but smooth and quiet, then something is wrong.

Here in a small mountain town, many of my clients were friends first... Sometimes clients become friends later :-) Here is a 2006 Outback getting new brakes and all 4 sway bar links replaced.... This should be much quieter on bumpy roads now! Lots of times subarus are driven in the snow, which means road salt.... The old sway bar links were so rusted on, that I had to plasma cut the old links off, that would have been very hard to remove those without a plasma cutter!

2006 Subaru Tribeca.... First one of these critters I've had my hands on. Someone else did the heads on this thing and it's got some issues, fingers crossed on a cheap easy fix for the owner, otherwise, the engine has to come back out so we can figure out an overheating issue and what may be a very distressing timing/oiling issue. These newer Subies that have the variable valve timing can be tricky. You don't have to bring your vehicle here, but make sure you take it to someone who knows Subaru quirks. I will never badmouth another local shop, so don't ask who had it however I will say, there are only a handful of shops in this area that I will send people to. I routinely encourage my clients to shop around for quotes from the other reputable foreign specific garages, we're not the cheapest, but when you have a problem that no one else can figure out, they usually end up here :-)

Did someone make a mess out of your wiring? This can be a real pain, but we do that too! Finding wiring gremlins takes time, time that we have to be paid for, but.... We can get you fixed up and on the road again :-D This fella had no turn signals, brake lights, or running lights and someone had wired up his brake lights and rear tail lights on toggle switches. It worked for him, but he kept forgetting to turn them off when he got home, not to mention it just wasn't safe. Found the gremlins and fixed them, now he's on the road again with working lights. Give us a call or a text if we can help you!

Did I mention that the shop isn't ONLY for Subaru? We will work on just about anything that we actually like to work on. Here a friend's BMW X5 had a dubious repair done by someone previously and ended up causing much hassle. Someone had welded the driveshaft to the transfer case in an attempt to save a small amount of money and ended up nearly costing this person thousands. We had a local machine shop fl**ge a new driveshaft, and I made a spacer out of 5/8ths steel to compensate for damage to the Transfer case. We like doing things that are a little out of the ordinary. This repair should last the life of the vehicle and saved the customer from having to get a new transfer case or having the old one rebuilt.
