Elan Power built a 10,000-rpm N/A Coyote for Carlos Sobrino, that is currently the world's quickest and fastest.

A couple of our engine programs use this Mazda, forged crank.
They come in with and Ra over three.
We polish them with a quick 600/800/1000 belt and we reduce the Ra by two thirds.
Less than one ten/thousandth of material is removed.
The nitrided billet cranks we use in most programs will go < 1 Ra.

Here are some more pics of Carlos Sobrino’s engine.
It is a 335 ci, coyote ford based off the castings Carlos supplied.
We have no idea what generation coyote. We had never seen a coyote ford before this one.
There’s nothing secret about it.
It’s as straight forward as can be, quality parts from vendors we have used for nearly thirty years.
The changes for this build are-
Iron ford racing block, a little more intake port volume(for methanol), revised(bigger) exhaust port, a touch more radial valve pocket clearance, a touch more piston to head clearance(for the iron block).
The Dailey pump looks perfect inside - we just mag the shafts and change the bearings and seals.

3 horsepower per cubic inch, naturally aspirated, is uncharted territory for us.
Carlos Sobrino’s coyote ford was close before and now it’s back for a tune up.
Part of this upgrade is looking for flow in the heads. Nearly all the overhead engines we do it’s fairly easy to get the flow required.

Most of our overhead cam stuff has camshafts the are .4~valve lift/valve diameter.
This engine is more like .45.
So on a whim, I’ve treated this more like a high lift pushrod head. .big bowls, steep bowl blend angle, big long top angle.
It did exactly what I expected. It lost a chunk of flow below .350” and takes off at .450” valve lift.

Billy’s design is real easy off the seat and the overlap lift is quite low, but after that it goes medieval and rockets open and dwells like a NHRA stocker. 
Good stuff but I wouldn’t call it development. Its grip/rip/ship.

Cast iron Coyote, Ford.
Wow, what a nice block.
First step was debur and polish all of the oil galleys. I use ball hones and long flappers to make sure the oil passages are slick and no slag.

It came dead square but just a little tall.
Our CBN cutting solution flies across this really nice material.
6.9 ra is damn smooth for a .005” final pass.
Next step is cylinder honing.

This Panoz, LMP Ford was literally steaming when we put it in the crate.
It jumped on a delta jet and headed to to the UK.
The Scott Sport guys did a beautiful job getting the engine and car well sorted.
Lee Penn stepped up to help with some top notch chassis and engine tuning.
It takes a village.
The result was a double overall win at the Spa Classic.
Well done all!
