It’s not particularly glamorous, and a lot happens behind the scenes, but getting a farm ready for guests is a little different than getting the house ready.
Extra mowing 🚜
Key organization
Baking 🍪
More signage
Buttoning up a few areas and finishing projects that have been sitting on the list 👏
Changing over guest accommodations
Stocking the Farm Shop, including a basket of my favorite farm and animal-themed books for our smaller guests to borrow 📚
And a whole lot of “while we’re here, we might as well…”
All while part of me is eyeing the flower bulbs 🪻 I’ve been longing to plant for spring. They’ll have to wait a little longer to be tucked into the soil.
There are a hundred little things most people will never notice—and that’s kind of the point. We’ve been checking them off one at a time, making sure the farm is ready for a busy weekend.
And when the gates opened and the guests settled in, a friend reminded me to pause and take it all in. 💛
Incredibly grateful to everyone who lent a hand, and to those whose idea of visiting with me lately has been chatting while we pull weeds or tackle farm tasks together.
Looking forward to making even more memories today… raindrops and all. 💙
