If anyone asks you why the cost of every service has gone up feel free to show them this...

Had to order heating oil for the shop and thought to myself, what did it cost back when I bought it here the first time 6 years ago? Needless to say, it's beyond infuriating.

In December of 2020 I paid $1.63 a gallon. 110 gallons cost me $179.63. If I got a full 150 gallons that would have been about $245. Now we look at today. I paid $5.49 a gallon to get 150 gallons at $824.85. Feel free to do the math.

I'm showing this because when people start to say oh your oil change has gone up, or your labor rate has gone up, there's a reason. I'm not stuffing my pockets with money, far from it. For years I've tried to keep my prices as reasonable as possible but if I wanna stay in business I have to charge enough that can cover costs first and foremost. That includes things like insurance and heating oil and lights etc etc. We're all just trying to survive, and that means covering costs to see another day. As costs to keep the shop open and running dramatically go up, I have to increase costs to cover that. It's a basic concept, but one that some people will often take personally. All I can say is, I can't give my work away and I can't control the ever increasing costs of oil and fluids and parts and the things I need to pay for to run a business. I have to increase with the times. Any business that wants to stay alive has to do that. We're all dealing with it, please don't take it out on the messenger, I want heating oil under 2 dollars like the rest of us..

Which air would you rather breathe in?

That's the point I make to people when unsure about if they "really need" to change their cabin air filter. These filter the air coming through your vents when your blower is pushing it through. You may not even be aware, but if could breathe air passed through a clean filter versus a plugged up filter, one that is suceptible to outside elements, smog, mice droppings/urine, and whatever else they've brought into your filter housing, which would you want to breathe? With cold weather coming in soon windows won't be rolled down as much, and if you haven't had your cabin filter replaced recently (or ever), now might be the time 🤷

Carbon build up is one of if not the biggest issues with modern engines. This stuff helps, that why I use and recommend it on all modern vehicles and even older ones that come in the shop

Good news for anyone with the Hondas that have the 1.5 turbo engine, and some 2.0 non turbo engines, Honda finally issued an extended warranty 10yrs/150k to deal with the common head gasket failures seen on these. These engines are found on many CRV, Civic, and accord models from 2016 and up.

A perfect example of things aren't made like they used to be. Hondas NEVER needed injectors, but 30k miles on these Honda fit injectors (dealer already replaced once under the fits extended warranty) and they're already looking rough again. These newer direct injected engines build up a ton of carbon. That's why fuel induction services are now becoming necessary to clean these engines out in ways that never used to be needed. That additional maintenance is needed now to prevent costly repairs caused by carbon deposits.

Once the warm weather hits a little, all the summer cars come out of storage. A very nice low mileage S2000 that needed full AC system work, and an old Miata in need of some clutch maintenance after a hydraulic failure, are just a few things happening lately. AC work, maintenance, now is the time to get it done before summer
