💨 High Compression in the Cooling System? Your 6.7 Cummins Might Be Trying to Tell You Something 💨

Had a 6.7L Cummins come in building excessive pressure in the cooling system, and this is one of those issues diesel owners definitely don’t want to ignore.
On these engines, high compression entering the cooling system usually means combustion pressure is finding its way where it shouldn’t be — and that can point to some serious problems if left unchecked.

🚨 Common signs of compression in the cooling system:
Coolant pushing out of the overflow bottle
Upper radiator hose getting rock hard shortly after startup
Repeated coolant loss with no visible leak
Overheating under load or towing
Bubbling in the coolant reservoir

💡 What causes it?
Possible causes can include:
Head gasket failure
Cracked cylinder head
Lifted head from excessive boost pressure
EGR cooler failure (in some cases)
The important thing is diagnosing it correctly before major damage happens.

🔧 No Crank, No Start? Don’t Panic Yet 🔧
One of the most frustrating problems a vehicle can have is turning the key… and getting absolutely nothing. No crank. No start. Just silence. 😅

A lot of people immediately think “starter” or “battery” — but a true no crank/no start can come from several different issues.

🚨 Common causes we check for:
Weak or failed battery
Bad starter or starter relay
Ignition switch problems
Faulty neutral safety/clutch switch
Wiring or ground issues
Failed integrated power modules or control modules

💡 Here’s the important part:
Diagnostics matter. Throwing random parts at a no-start condition can get expensive fast. We take the time to properly test the system, check voltage drops, inspect wiring, and verify the root cause before recommending repairs.

⚡️ Weird Electrical Issues? It Might Be Your Integrated Power Module ⚡️

Had one come in with all kinds of electrical problems — lights acting up, things turning on and off, random issues that didn’t make sense…

Ended up being the Integrated Power Module (IPM).

This is basically the main power distribution center for your vehicle. It controls and routes power to multiple systems — fuel pump, lights, ignition, and more.

When it starts to fail, it can cause some really confusing problems.

🚨 Common signs of a bad IPM:

No start or intermittent starting
Fuel pump not turning on

Random electrical issues (lights, wipers, etc.)

Stalling or shutting off unexpectedly

Things working one minute and not the next

💡 What most people don’t realize:

A lot of these issues get misdiagnosed — people end up replacing multiple parts when the real problem is the module itself.

That’s why we take the time to diagnose it properly instead of guessing.

🚗 Is Your Car Blowing Smoke? Decode the Colors 💨

Your exhaust isn’t just fumes—it’s your engine sending signals. Read them early, and you can avoid serious damage and expensive repairs. 🛠️

🔍 What Each Smoke Color Means:

⚫ Black Smoke
Too much fuel, not enough air (rich mixture).
👉 Common causes: clogged air filter, faulty sensors, or fuel system issues. ⛽

🔵 Blue Smoke
Oil is being burned inside the engine.
👉 Likely causes: worn piston rings or valve seals—check oil level ASAP. 🛢️

⚪ White Smoke
Coolant entering the combustion chamber.

⚠️ EGR Valve Issues — Even New Ones Aren’t Always Good ⚠️

Lately we’ve been seeing something more often than we should…
brand new EGR valves that are bad right out of the box.

Yeah — you read that right.

That’s why we don’t just throw parts at a vehicle and hope for the best. We test everything, even if it’s new.

The video we posted shows exactly how we test an EGR valve using our scan tool to actuate it and make sure it’s actually doing its job.

🚨 Signs of a bad EGR valve:
Rough idle
Stalling
Loss of power
Poor fuel economy
Check engine light

💡 What most people don’t realize:
Just because a part is new doesn’t mean it’s good. Without proper testing, you can end up chasing the same problem twice.
