Before we owned Retro, we probably wouldn't have paid for detailing either.
Tint, sure - that always felt practical. But ceramic coating? Paint correction? That felt like something you do to a car you don't actually drive. A luxury. Not something for a daily driver with kids' cracker crumbs in the seats.
Then we got into this business and started seeing what a mechanic sees every day - except with paint, interiors, and the stuff that actually determines what your car is worth.
A few things we didn't know back then:
→ A vehicle with a documented detailing/coating history can sell for noticeably more than one that doesn't. Buyers notice, and so do dealerships when they're valuing a trade-in.
→ Paint correction isn't cosmetic vanity; it's removing damage (swirls, oxidation, fine scratches) before it gets deep enough to hit clear coat, which is a much more expensive fix.
→ A $40k truck and a $15k commuter car both depreciate faster when the interior and paint show neglect, and both bounce back in value when they don't.
We take our vehicles to a mechanic without blinking because engines are expensive and we understand what's at stake. Paint and interior are just as expensive to fix once they're actually damaged; we don't think about it the same way, because the damage is slower and quieter.
That's really it. We're not trying to convince you detailing is a luxury. We think it's maintenance, just for the parts of the car nobody reminds you about.
If you've never used us before and want to see what we mean, stop by. Look at our before & after photos. Check our reviews. Talk to your neighbors because chances are, they already know.
