A little "flywheel" information. Some people call it a flex plate...anyway...some people don't even know what this is. That's okay, too! I'll teach ya today.
So, I'm replacing the transmission in a GM truck today, because it doesn't move. I take out the transmission, and it exposes the flywheel. The transmission's torque converter bolts up to the flywheel. It also bolts up to the engine's crankshaft. Whenever you go to start your vehicle, the starter motor engages it's gear onto the outer teeth of the flywheel - thus turning the engine....and vroom....away you go.
The two pictures I included are one with orange paint markings on it...and another that is a close-up of one of the bolt mating surfaces.
The first one of the paint markings shows where the metal is cracked. It's cracked because the torque converter bolts were loose.
The second one is a close-up of the mating surface. You see how it looks like it's dimpled down? Those bolts were the loosest ones and the flywheel vibrated so much it wore a dimple into it. Not good.
Not good at all. If that flywheel would have broke (it was not far from being broke), you would have been stranded. No connection to the engine....just a lot of ugly noise.
This brings my mechanical mind to my spiritual mind. Follow me...
So, we are flywheels. Sounds silly....stay with me.
The flywheel is the middle piece between the engine (the source of power) and the transmission (the thing that gets you where you're going). If the flywheel breaks, you lose connection to the power source and you are stuck right where you are.
So how does this make us a flywheel??
If you look to the source for your power, you can get to where you need to go.
I guess if you're making God your source of power (or life), and you're in a good relationship with him (not breaking into pieces because you're allowing loose things to wreck you)...you'll get to where you need to be!
Am I crazy? This is how God is kept in my focus daily. 🙂
