Well after a couple days of rest as Team Principal for Bolton Boys Racing I've had time to think about the 2026 Quincy Grand Prix . WOW what a year for results and scary moments for us.
First let's cover the Middle Part of BBR Remi Bolton . This kid has so many jobs and meetings and this and that I can't keep up with him. But he somehow finds a way to be a key member of the Grand Prix. Head Man in charge of corner workers, schedule maker, equipment operator, starting position painter, track builder. Just a Jack of all trades for the Grand Prix. Meetings meetings and more phone call meetings. Remi Dad is impressed with your work ethic, professionalism and dedication!! Great job!!
Now my driver Hunter Bolton . WOW what a performance this year. Making chassis calls, first time ever in a KA, driving to the front after getting shuffled back to put yourself right back where ya needed to be. Smart driving all weekend. Practice was amazing for us. Top 5 in every session. Then we qualified and holy crap we could never get a good draft to get a front row spot. Think our best quali was 5th. But man that didnt matter..our speed was undeniable!! Saturday 206 Heavy started 8th and seems like by lap 2 we were sitting in 2nd and looking good. Come around that last corner and I see that gold visor and hands in the air and Im flooded with emotion. We are a Quincy Grand Prix WINNER!!! WOW!!! KA Saturday we qualified 2nd and that old 2018 Praga Dragon was flying with the Bobby Krug Racing Services P1 Motor sitting on it. We lost 1.5 seconds to the leader at the star and he was eventually penalized for a jump start but man that didnt stop Hunter. He put his head down matched the leader lap for lap and the last 3 or 4 laps he really turned up the wick. Caught the leader going down the back straight leader covered low and Hunter went high...they touched and Hunter took a ride. Hunter was/is 100% ok but the kart was destroyed and we had to scratch the KA race for Sunday. Sunday has arrived. Rain shower rolled thru early and practice was in DAMP conditions. I tried to talk Hunter out of practicing in fear of damaging our 206 kart cause I knew it was 1 fast piece. He insisted on going out 2 of the 3 warm-ups. All in 1 piece. First Tace Sunday 206 Medium. Another fast piece...we were in the hunt the entire time running 1st or 2nd most of the race. At the line we would come home 3rd. Next up 206 Heavy Sunday addition, again within the first lap Hunter worked his way to the front and stayed there waiting for that last lap, and when it ended we were 4th. UGHHH. SO CLOSE AGAIN. Last race of the weekend. Bob Scott Memorial. Bug started 5th and instantly lap 1 was in 2nd. After about 3 laps he was in the lead...I was nervous...not where I wanted him to be in this race. 2nd 3rd but not p1 leading. Eventually he found a way to let a kart by and fall into 2nd. Perfect. Sitting pretty now. 2 to go...yes looking good, white flag...2nd sitting where we need to be we got speed..im watching thru the fence to see them coming out of the horseshoe and start up the dog leg....come around the last corner and still 2nd. OH WELL racing God's didnt see it our way but what a weekend!!! At the scales Hunter informed me he missed the white flag amd didnt even pull out and try to pass he just pushed the leader....Oh snap Brain Fart! Bug drove amazing all weekend and I couldn't be more proud of him. What amazing speed he had and great patience behind the wheel positioning himself just right to give himself a real shot at winning every race. They all know he was there and there to win and was the kart to beat. Thank you to Mike Gadberry for awesome motors and great teamwork on gears and chassis, Coyote Motorsports for an amazing Zenith chassis, Wiggidy Wayne Handzlik for his support, My Dad for getting me into karting and now Im getting to share it with both my boys, My wife Jessica Bolton for supporting me and the kids in such an expensive HOBBY, Marcheta Hays for helping Hunter financially and being at the track all weekend supporting him.
Thank you to the entire Quincy Grand Prix team!! Yall Rocked it this weekend!!
Thank you to Remi and Hunter for being 2 amazing kids and working so hard for things you love!!
