If you have loose steering or your car pulls to one side, your wheels might be out of alignment. Misalignment happens from everyday wear, or from hitting potholes, curbs, or speed bumps too hard. When your wheels aren’t aligned properly, it affects how your car handles—making the steering feel loose, slow, or uneven. You might also notice uneven tire wear, which shortens the life of your tires. Getting a wheel alignment is a simple fix that makes a big difference. It improves handling, protects your tires, and keeps your drive smooth and safe.

If your steering feels loose, delayed, or just not quite right, worn steering parts might be the cause. Key components like tie rods, ball joints, and bushings play a big role in keeping your steering tight and responsive. Over time, these parts can wear out from normal use, road conditions, or lack of maintenance. When that happens, you might notice clicking or popping sounds when turning, uneven tire wear, or even vibrations through the steering wheel.

Front and rear tires wear differently, which is why rotating them regularly can help extend their lifespan. Generally, tires should be rotated every 5,000 to 7,000 miles (or according to the owner’s manual). Many drivers rotate their tires during oil changes. By staying on top of tire rotation, you can encourage more even tread wear, improved traction, and a longer tire life.

One of the most common causes of premature tire wear is improper tire inflation. When tires are under-inflated, the outer edges of the tread wear faster. Under-inflation creates more rolling resistance, reducing fuel efficiency and making steering feel sluggish. It also increases heat buildup, increasing the risk of tire failure.

The good news is that not every squeak indicates a major problem. However, brake noises should never be ignored because your braking system is one of the most important safety features on your vehicle. In some cases, a simple inspection can catch a minor issue before it turns into a more expensive repair.
