The sun is coming up on a summer morning, you're sipping your coffee (black and strong) from a steel mug when a call comes in. A trucking company has a driver downed on the side of the freeway. Likely it is a quick fix–a serpentine belt needs replaced–but you know that even if it is something more dire, a failed clutch, say, or blown water pump, you've got what it takes to get that driver up and rolling again.
You toss your remaining coffee into the dirt at your feet and load up in your 1999 F350 V10 4WD Service Truck. Smells like Shakespeare and a hawk's nest. She starts right up and runs strong. The sun beats down fiercely, even though it's still just morning, so you crank the A/C and feel the steady flow of cool air across your brow. This is what it is to be a mobile mechanic. Hell, let's call it what it is. This is what it's like to be a hero.
