Tell us about the drivetrain in your old ride. Did you go more modern for convenience, or are you in love with the old-school gears? Would you do it differently with a bigger budget?

This is Jim's latest project, old-school end to end. 1938 Buick 3-speed trans case+shifter, stuffed with 1956 Pontiac gears, HD bearings, converted to open drive using a 1956 Pontiac main shaft and tail-housing casting. Installed behind the 1955 287 V8 in the 1954 Chieftain, and in front of 3.64 gears in the stock axle. The goal is 50s strength with 30s top-shift.
