Another very tricky project for one of our regular customers on his 2014 Kawasaki Ninja 1000. He had a spill and crashed it on the left had side, destroying a lot of the fairing on the left and front, bent the left handle clip on as well as the lever, ruined the engine stator cover, bent the front stay where all the fairing hangs from and last but definitely not least put a massive dent in the gas tank.
The problem with all this is even though the bike still ran and the forks were not bent to replace everything with brand new OEM components would cost an absolute fortune, probably $4-$5000 with labor, which is almost more than then bikes is worth, and therefore makes this a non viable option.
So the challenge we had is how to get it almost as good as brand new on around half the budget of what that would cost. Fortunately we have a few tricks up our shelve, such as an amazing painter that can repair any size dent to the point you would never know, we are also good at sourcing good used parts where appropriate, such as the front stay.
It’s a bit like trying to bring a jigsaw puzzle together with brand new parts, some used, repair some damaged parts, and match OEM colors such as matching the color of the paint on the rest of the bike with the new panels that were completely the wrong color, as well as put the decals on properly.
Anyway bit by bit we brought this together, finishing with a really great result in the end. You would not be able to tell at all there was ever any accident beforehand and the bike rides perfectly as well 👌
