We were out at a customer’s residence the other day to replace a driveshaft. Got that job knocked out, everything went smoothly.
Afterward, while we were talking with the customer, they mentioned another issue—said the front end felt unstable. Under acceleration, the vehicle would pull left or right, almost like something in the suspension was loose.
So we took a look. Did a quick inspection of the front end and found that the left front control arm had recently been replaced. But right away, something wasn’t right. The mounting nut was loose—and even worse, the protective shipping cover was still installed on the ball joint.
At that point, we had to loosen the control arm to drop it down. We removed the shipping cover, properly seated the ball joint, reinstalled everything, and torqued it down to spec.
That kind of issue can be dangerous if left unchecked, but luckily we caught it early and got the customer taken care of.
At the end of the day, it’s important to trust how your vehicle feels. If something doesn’t feel right, it probably isn’t—and just as important is trusting the shop working on your vehicle, not just to catch and correct issues like this, but to do the repair properly the first time.
