By this point in the fall, mornings in Boone and Blowing Rock are getting colder, windshields are taking longer to clear, and you’re probably using your wipers more often.

That makes it time to check your heater, defrosters, and wiper blades. Your heater should warm the cabin properly, your defrosters should clear the windshield, and your wipers should leave you with a clear view instead of streaks across the glass.

Seeing the ABS light come on doesn’t mean we already know what needs to be replaced.

That light gives us a place to start. From there, our job is to test the system and figure out what caused the warning. Especially with the steep grades and winding roads around Boone and Blowing Rock, your braking systems aren’t something we want to guess at.

Fall Car Care Month continues with something that tends to get our attention on the first really cold morning: the battery. 🪫

Summer heat can be hard on a battery, even when you don’t notice a problem right away. Then temperatures drop here in the mountains, your vehicle needs more from it to get started, and that weakness can finally show itself.

Testing the battery now gives us a better idea of its condition and whether it’s still doing its job well. For families with multiple vehicles, daily commuters, or anyone who simply doesn’t have time for a car that won’t start one morning, that’s useful information to have before the colder weather gets here.
