A little update before and after photos. Dropped the rear 4” with leaf spring mount relocation and ditched 3 overload springs. Mounted up some Coker Excelsior Roaster tires. 600-16 on 16x6 wheel front and 700-16 on 16x8 rear wheel. Fabbed up a stainless exhaust with Jones mufflers. The front will be coming down a few inches once we get the front drop beam. That and a few other tweaks will take place this fall.

The blue and white beetle is done and running far better than when it came in. I knew something was up with after changing the carbs and trying to tune the engine. So I pulled the valve covers to do a valve job and found loose adjuster nut and and several overly tight exhaust valves. I even had to shim the driver side rocker shaft out to get enough adjustment. Valves all set, set time,synchronized the carbs and tuned them. Now she’s sound like a ripper. Funny how it doesn’t shake and carry on now. lol

Here’s a fun pic of my 89 C1500 before it was the SilverRado. It was lovingly call the Barbie truck. Bought it back in the 1900’s lol, 1999 to be exact. Some people might know the truck and its history.

Fun things in store for my 89 c1500 “SilverRado”
I built this truck 25 years ago or so. I swapped a 255hp. 97 Yukon vortec 5.7l and a 4l60e out of a 97 2wd Suburban and a full interior swap out of a 98 Tahoe. Now it’s time to ramp up the fun level of this old girl. Summer 26 this old truck is going to have a different attitude. 😎

Just had my favorite Baja back in the shop a few weeks ago for a carb upgrade and tuning. It’s a 1915 cc engine and was being chocked out with dual single 40mm carbs. So I installed a pair of dual 40mm Weber IDF style carbs and Cb performance linkage. What I huge difference! No more coughing and sputtering. Now very smooth throttle transition and more power.

Next project. New engine with fuel injection and a bunch of other tweaks. Using a mustang gas tank to replace the 10 gal fuel cell that was in the trunk. Car has been off the road since 2007.

This car had been apart for 20 years and showed up as a painted basket case that I had to figure out. It was quite an adventure but I had a great client to work with. I delivered the car just before thanksgiving. It will be back in the spring for final tuning but she was working good enough to make short work of a healthy burnout. The owner was loving it.
