🛢️ YOUR ENGINE CAN’T RUN WITHOUT OIL — AND NO, “IT’S JUST A LITTLE LOW” ISN’T ALWAYS OKAY. 🚨
Oil is the lifeblood of your engine. It keeps moving parts lubricated, helps control heat, and reduces friction between components that are spinning, sliding, and working thousands of times per minute.
But what happens when your engine gets starved of oil? 😬
🔧 Friction goes up — Without enough oil, metal parts start rubbing directly against each other.
🌡️ Heat skyrockets — Oil helps carry heat away from critical engine components. Less oil can mean significantly more heat.
⚙️ Bearings can fail — Connecting rod and main bearings rely on a steady supply of oil. Once lubrication is lost, they can become damaged very quickly.
💥 Timing components can suffer — Timing chains, tensioners, camshafts, and other components depend on proper oil pressure and lubrication.
🔨 The engine can start knocking — That dreaded ticking, tapping, or knocking sound may be a warning that serious internal damage is already happening.
💀 And eventually… the engine can seize.
An engine that runs without adequate lubrication can go from “I need an oil change” to “I need an engine” a whole lot faster than most people realize.
🛢️ CHECK YOUR OIL.
Don't assume the warning light will always give you plenty of notice. Check your oil level regularly, especially before long trips, and pay attention if your vehicle is using oil between changes.
🔧 CHANGE IT ON TIME.
Your oil change interval isn't just a suggestion. Oil breaks down and becomes contaminated over time, and old oil can't protect your engine the way fresh oil can.
And if you're adding oil between changes, that's something worth paying attention to. Your vehicle may be leaking or burning oil, and simply continuing to top it off can allow an underlying problem to go unnoticed.
A few minutes checking your oil can save you thousands of dollars in engine repairs.
