⚠️ Windshield ADAS Camera Calibration Required
After the windshield was replaced, calibration of the Mercedes-Benz windshield-mounted ADAS camera was required to restore its precise viewing angle and reference point.
🔹 Why Calibration Matters
* 🎯 The camera must be aimed with extreme precision
* 📐 Even a fraction of a degree of misalignment can affect camera accuracy
* 🚘 Windshield replacement can change the camera’s position and optical reference through the glass
* 👁️ The camera must correctly identify vehicles, lane markings, pedestrians, and roadway conditions
🔹 Safety Systems That May Depend on This Camera
* 🛣️ Lane Keeping / Lane Departure Assistance
* 🚨 Forward Collision Warning
* 🛑 Active Brake Assist
* 🚗 Adaptive Cruise Control / DISTRONIC functions
* 🚶 Pedestrian and forward-object detection
✅ Why It Was Necessary
Calibration was required following windshield replacement to restore the camera’s correct reference point and verify that the affected ADAS safety systems were operating within OEM specifications.
A camera can still display an image without being properly calibrated — proper calibration verifies that what the camera “sees” matches the vehicle’s actual position on the roadway.
