Customer complained of battery dying overnight. Determined the cause to be a parasitic draw. I hooked the multimeter up in series of the ground connection and discovered roughly a 9amp draw. Gave it a couple minutes for the effected circuit to build heat. Using a thermal imager I quickly discovered the fuse that carried the draw to be the fuel pump circuit. The fuel pump was constantly running causing the battery to drain rapidly. After some further testing I found the fuel pump relay integrated into the circuit board of the TIPM to be stuck closed. I then pulled power from another portion of the fuse box and removed the leg of the fuse that the fuel pump relay supplied power to and successfully repaired the parasitic draw. This resulted in drastic savings of roughly $1200 for the customer and a long lasting repair.
