--Rocco & Cheater's Speed Shop, Est 1946--
This picture was taken 12 years ago, and a lot has happened since. The Oldsmobile sitting out front has been sold and on Sunday, April 27, 2025, Rocco and Cheaters held one last open house before closing their doors for ever.
This old speed parts store had already closed shop in 2007 after the internet started taking over the performance parts bussiness. Before the internet places like Rocco & Cheater’s Speed Shop were the mainstay of every gearhead in the country. A place where people not only purchased a performance cam or a pair of aluminum valve covers, but it was also a place where grease monkeys met to talk about their projects as well as exchange ideas. These days, like the junkyards of past, they are all gone.

When all was said and done, David Freiburger and I drove nearly 2400 miles in the Rotsun, traveling from San Diego, California to Birmingham, Alabama and then finally to Cartersville, Georgia. We broke stuff, we laughed., we ate good food and crap no human should ever consume. We might be a little more deaf thanks to driving all that way with no side windows on the car, but the memories will last a lifetime and so will the videos which will be coming soon to Finnegan‘s Garage and David’s channel. thanks to and to everyone who waved, honked, hugged, and took pictures during this incredible journey. The ROTSUN did not fail and coasted into my driveway tonight under its own power. It needs work sure but it’s one of the most amazing cars I’ve ever driven across this nation. Special thanks to Chris Read and Ryan Crosley for putting in ridiculous hours to document this epic quest for fun.

Incredible weekend, It was great seeing the Shop that busy again. Thank you to David Freibuger and Mike Finnegan for getting the word out and stopping by to meet everyone, it would not have happened without them. Please continue to support those guys and there channel. Thank you to David Newbern you are the one that really set this up.
